Irena Lander
Articling Student
Irena is currently completing her articles at Bariteau Dulysh, where she brings a solid academic foundation and a broad range of legal experience to the team.
She holds a Juris Doctor from the Université de Moncton in New Brunswick and previously earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, cum laude, from the University of Ottawa.
Irena’s particularly passionate about the intersection of mental health and criminal law, which informs her compassionate approach to supporting individuals within the justice system.
Throughout her legal studies, Irena gained valuable practical experience in criminal law as a summer student at Smith Litkowski. She also volunteered with New Brunswick Legal Aid Commission and Crossroads for Women through Pro Bono Students Canada, reflecting her commitment to community service and access to justice.
Irena expanded her legal research and advocacy skills by participating in The Laskin Moot, a prestigious national bilingual moot court competition focused on Canadian administrative and constitutional law. This experience helped strengthen her litigation abilities that serve her well in her pursuit of a career in criminal law.
Fluent in both English and French, and having completed her legal education entirely in French, Irena is well equipped to support clients in both of Canada’s official languages.
